Have you noticed when you go to the big box furniture stores that they pretty much all have the same styles and limited colors? Pinch me. Now that I get to explore StarFine Furniture, I am in custom furniture heaven!

The fabric selection is out of this world. Customizable lines of furniture that allows me to select my style, size and color. Can you imagine selecting comfort, leg design options and details unique to your own design vision? Thank goodness there’s fabrics that are pet and kid friendly for when the grand pets or my nieces visit. Fringed pillows, nail head trim, turned wood legs...customize your own style and comfort.

I’ll be an empty nester soon and I am so looking forward to finally purchasing custom furniture. Not just any furniture. I’ve been reading up on Flexsteel, La-Z-Boy, Palliser and more.

Here’s some new things that I have discovered about purchasing lasting quality furniture:

TYPE OF FABRIC

Know what fabric you’re using on your custom design furniture. You need to know if you can steamclean it or does it need special dry cleaning. Is it sturdy enough to stand up to a 110-pound Labrador?

You know that beautiful fur baby that visits from College Station. The one who is so well-behaved, has his own comfy dog bed...until you leave the house for dinner. Only to come home to that wonderful grand dog sitting regally on your white sofa! Or how about kid friendly? Is the fabric stain resistant?

DEPTH OF FOAM CORE

Most stores offer the industry standard 1.5”, that’s why your cushions flatten out and your furniture is no longer comfortable. StarFine Furniture offers 1.8” up to 2.0” foam core density which means your seat cushions will remain comfortable much, much longer.

HARD PADDING ON BACKS AND SIDES

I laughed when my friend asked what that was...I knew because I had talked to a La-Z-Boy furniture specialist in my quest for lasting quality furniture. Inexpensive lines that most of us have purchased over the years don’t put padding on the backs or on the sides of upholstered furniture.

GENUINE LEATHER

How many of us bought leather furniture only to see it start peeling? That means it was bonded leather. StarFine does not sell any of that. Nothing but genuine leather. I might have to rethink my furniture choices. Maybe a couple of genuine leather chairs?
